Summary: I had a G-shock while serving in the USMC infantry that lasted over 8 years and was still working fine even after the band had worn out several times and the entire plastic casing was gone. The replacement I bought in the early 2000's developed a "fog" on the display within weeks of owning it that came and went until the watch failed in about three years. Last year I purchased another thinking that the last one had been a fluke.
Summary: The casio g shock series is such a long lasting series that is must be good and time does tell. This watch is great!! The white does not absorb colors like previous models and the pin striping adds great accent when it is on the wrist.
Summary: This watch is much much more than I ever expected. It has taken a very heavy beating since day one. I've had it for a little over a year now and still looks brand new. I surf between 4-5 times a week. Even in double overhead and 50 degree water it takes the washing around and sand and wax without a problem. If you set up the tide indicator up correctly, it works perfectly, even better than the local tide reports because of the luni-tidal interval.
Summary: I've owned the black GLC5600 for nearly 2 years now and I absolutely love it. I kayak and really only like to go out at high tide... therefore this watch is exceptionally useful. I set the tides for my location nearly 2 years ago and it remains deadly accurate. It may be difficult to locate your particular Lunitidal Interval for your location, but Google should eventually yield the proper value.
