An Almost Perfect Everyday Watch

Boi, amazon.co.uk
17 August 2011
  • Summary: After years of purchasing budget watches for everyday use, there were two factors that fuelled this vicious cycle: a standard battery that would cost as much as the watch to replace and/or the plastic strap suddenly splitting. It reached the point where I had enough and looked around for an attractive and yet affordable watch that didn't possess the above pitfalls. The Casio AW-80V-1BVEF was my eventual choice and I'm very glad that I purchased it.

Would have been a nice watch if it worked!

  • Summary: Review by Sals aged 10 :- "It was an amazing watch, because it had so many functions. After about one week the time, date, day, month and year wnt wrong, and I lost all of the tele-memmos (it re-set itself). After about another week it did the same thing again! After sme time it ran out of battery, when it's meant to have TEN YEAR battery!!

extraordinary power in such a little thing

  • Summary: It is the most coolest ever watch I have seen yet even felt. I do agree that the setup was a bit fiddly but i got used to it. at first i was trying to find a watch suitable for a 12yr old boy. I then stumble across this. i looked at how big the wrist band was and was really dissapointed because it was for men. I then though that I would give this a try and when it came it acually and suprisingly fitted in my wrist. I love the little features of this watch.

Agree with everyone else :-)

BrucieBaby "Bones", amazon.co.uk

  • Summary: I've had this watch nearly 4 years now and it has served me well. I believe when I got it the battery guarantee was 5 years. If it is actually 10 years I'll be well pleased. As my review title suggests, the complexity of the various button combinations make using all the functions a bit more complicated especially when it comes to changing time when the clocks change.

Perfectly adequate....

Mr. M. Miller, amazon.co.uk
28 May 2010
  • Summary: My requirement was a cheap, no nonsense watch that would give me the time/day/date on the face. I opted for this watch and I am very happy with it. It is extremely light and very comfortable; you really can't tell that's it's on. The backlight is fine and the face is not huge (so fits skinny wrists, like mine). I found the manual actually OK to read and set up the watch no probs.

Disappointed

P. Smith "Hillsider", amazon.co.uk
23 April 2010
  • Summary: Despite the Casio name - I ordered a green version of this watch - black delivered with no apology or explanation - loosing minutes in 2/3 weeks - if I had the time or needed more precise time keeping I would send it back with a complaint - reluctant to buy same brand in the future.

Good buy

M. Arber, amazon.co.uk
2 January 2010
  • Summary: This is one of a series of Casios I've owned and I think the best so far. The button sequences are a bit complicated but similar to my old watch so no problem to me. The bottons are actually easier to press than before. I can't live with metal straps and I lost the last watch because the plastic strap broke after just 18months ... so I thought I would give the fabric/velcro strap a go. After about 2 monthis usage I'm very happy with both the strap and the watch.

Durable and Funtional

Mr. R. Goddard, amazon.co.uk
16 February 2009
  • Summary: I wear mine every day. Its durable, easy on the eye anologue and digital which switches from time to date in the press of a button. Many other features too. Its so light in weight you dont know you have it on until you need the time. The strap is also light with a velcro fastener for ease of removal if you remember you have it on.
