Do not EVER buy a Whirlpool product

Angela Gunther, Amazon
17 September 2014
  • Summary: I bought this washer (along with the matching dryer), less than 3 years ago. At first we thought it was a really nice set and were excited to have a "nice, very expensive" set that would last us for years to come. Fast forward 2 1/2 years. Our washer just stopped working. We immediately called Whirlpool. When we were on the phone with them, they gave us 2 options. We could pay a little over $600 to get the washer fixed, OR we could buy an extended warranty for $350.

Duet died in 2.5 years

SwitchingToLG, shop your way
29 June 2014
  • Summary: I did not select this washer, the builder provided it new 2.5 years ago. It's always been too noisy, but recently it sounds like a plane is taking off in our house during the spin cycle. My repair guy has diagnosed it as a bad rear bearing meaning the whole back half of the tub/inner tub would need to be replaced (expensive part + $300+ in labor). Whirlpool only has the 1 year standard warranty and does not do 5yr or 10yr on major parts like other makers.

Whirlpool washer = MILDEW AND HEADACHE

annabean8, shop your way
6 November 2013
  • Summary: Please save yourself the trouble of having to scrape disgusting black mold and mildew off of the soap dispenser walls and replacing the plastic inner ring of the washing machine every 6 months and choose a different brand. I have been so disappointed in this washer. I spent $3,000 on a front loading steamer duet washer/dryer. To be fair, the dryer works fine.

Difficult to Use

Janis36, RC Willey
30 October 2013
  • Conclusion: I'm sorry I ever bought this washing machine. I researched it thoroughly before I purchased it. Every time I use iit I never know whether it's going to shut down or not. I'm used to doing a load of whites with bleach (towels, underwear and socks). You can't put large towels in with small underwear and socks - the machine shuts down. If items in the wash are not similar in size and weight the machine shuts down.

Customer service is lacking

K. Carmical, Amazon
26 September 2013
  • Summary: This washer broke on me less than five months after purchasing it. The repair service has been to my house twice now, and it is still not repaired. With all the money Whirlpool has spent on the repairs, they could have saved themselves money and a customer by simply replacing it (the repairs have now cost them more than I paid for the washer to begin with). More than a month without a washer, and after spending thousands, I still have to go to a coin laundry.
