Conclusion: I have an older model of this machine. Mine is 3 years old and has needed 2 major repairs. When it was less than a month old the display panel had to be replaced. Now the whole drum needs to be replaced. So presently I have been without the washer for 6 weeks and will be without it for 2 more weeks because when the warranty compamy contacted Whirlpool for the parts they only sent a protion of what was needed.
Summary: I purchased a duet steam washer 4.5 years ago and just found out it has had a critical failure (drum bearings) and the cost of repair is roughly equal to the cost to buy a new machine. The machine was OK while it worked but to have a premium machine last such a short time is just unacceptable. I contacted Whirlpool several times and their best response was to tell me I should have purchased an extended warranty.
