WHIRPOOL DUET SPORT WASHER-JUNK!!

29 September 2011
  • Summary: We bought 2 years ago, both the 8300 series washer and dryer whirlpool duet sport. Dryer is still working fine, but the washer was always loud, and then making a horrible sound so we had a repairman out and he said is the rear drum assembly broke, my husband is handy but could not touch this repair, part is 208.00 and labor (takes 2 guys) is $350.00. We had no warranty, and contacted whirlpool and they could care less of helping us in any way.

Worst purchase

  • Summary: While this machine washes clothes fine, it is VERY noisey during the spin cycle. This machine was delivered to me 5/22/2007 and has been serviced 3 times and the problem cannot be resolved. The last repairman said this was a problem with the way this particular model was manufactured!! I have lived with this due to the cost of the appliance, since we purchased the dryer also. The noise has become unbearable, as it has gotten louder! Not sure I want Whirlpool again!!!!

Whirlpool Duet Sport WFW8300SW 27 in Front Load Washer

  • Summary: We've had our Whirlpool front loader for about three years. During that time, a design flaw has been the source of an ongoing battle with mildew smell both in the machine and the clothes it washed. To add insult to injury, after only three years (the electrical warranty is two) the machine went dark. Unresponsive. Fixed and dialated. After $50 service call, the prognosis was that the machine needed a new brain/switch device for a mere $350 (part only).

  • Summary: My experience with this washer is the same as all the other complaints: the spin cycle is loud and shakes the whole house; the washer doesn't drain properly meaning that mold and smells are a problem unless I dry it with paper towels after every batch of laundry; and so on. Additionally, I find it very frustrating that few of the pre-set settings are settings I would actually use.

  • Summary: We purchased the Duet Sport set on December 15, 2008. We have been unhappy with it ever since. I imagine that it gets clothes clean and does other things well but it failed to meet our minimum requirements and failed to perform adequately. #1: It is loud. From my research, it was supposed to be one of the quietest but you really don't know what it's going to be like until you get it in your home.

  • Summary: Replaced an 8 year old Maytag Neptune front-load with this machine 9 months ago. The Maytag was great until the bearing went out with a repair cost of $800.00! Bought the Whirlpool Sport with the assurance from the sales person that it is as good if not better than the Maytag. After all, Whirlpool now owns Maytag, I was informed. So, I dropped the $700 dollars and had this installed. I would definitely buy a front-load washer again, but probably not this model.

NOT so great

Duet NO more, AJ Madison

  • Summary: For those who give good reviews about this Whirlpool washer Duet Sport, I was wondering how long they have owned it…..I wish them the best of luck. I have searched a few websites and I found so many people with bad experience with this particular washer and I was one of them. I thought it was my bad luck to get a ‘lemon’ washer but I guess I am not. Do NOT buy Whirlpool Duet Sport WFW8300S . I had it for a little over a year and it only took two washes to break it.

  • Summary: good machine. the only issue is that the pre-wash cycle requires you use only powdered soap for the main wash which can be a hassel..
