We went back to what works. A top loader that uses plenty of water and an agitator!

Summary: Top loading HE washers that actually work are a myth. After dealing with several it became obvious that filling a top loading drum 1/4 full with water then without an agitator try to get clothes clean was simply against the laws of physics. Yes front loaders can do it because they are able to tumble the clothes through the water but it's just not possible for a top loader to do the job with so little water and no agitator.
Summary: Anyone reviewing how this machine is built ( in the USA ) will see that it is truly superior to foreign junk with fancy circuit boards that fail in 2 years. Even the standard US brands have debased themselves with made in Mexico components, plastic gears, flimsy non-galvanized steel. Always read the negative reviews of the others first. This beast will last 20 years without failing, like my old-school Amana top loader it replaced.
Summary: After a stressful and frustrating experience with an expensive LG HE top load high tech turbo washer that did not clean clothing at all, and finally getting a refund, I purchased from a local store a Speed Queen washer and I am so glad that I did. It has manual knobs and an agitator and washes loads perfectly in 20 minutes.
Summary: After 2 broken Whirlpool washing machines in 2 months, decided to purchase the Speed Queen AWN432. I have spent hours & hours reading reviews from other washing manufacturers (whirlpool, maytag, frigidaire, kenmore, kitchenaid, amana, jenn-air, LG, & samsung) along with various youtube videos and comparisons. Nothing comes even close to the USA built Speed Queen. It's like comparing plastic vs steel.

Summary: Does what a washer should.. wash clothes I ditched my high dollar front load LG that I paid $4200 for the pair . if you want one like your mom had this is it no its not a Christmas tree with fancy bells and lights but it works like a washer should.
Summary: Old: I just bought this washer one month ago. It is already malfunctioning! I always wash my clothes in cold water, never hot or warm cycle. The washer only fills with hot water, even the warm cycle put out hot water, not warm, which tells me there is no cold being mixed in with the hot. The washer just will not let cold water through. I already checked the hoses, and screens. I even switched the hot and cold hoses, to try and trick the washer to use cold.
Summary: THANK YOU, THANK YOU...LOVE MY SPEEDQUEEN W&D...I was in for a new set and after hearing/reading many horror stories of the HE Front and Top Loads I just knew that is not where I wanted to go. I just wanted a good set that didn't take a hour or more to run one load of wash, prison me from opening the lid and my clothes coming out smelling of mold.
Summary: This is a very functional, well-built machine. My only complaint is about the prewash cycle. For heavily soiled loads (muddy pants, wet bedsheets, and pretty much anything else a three-year-old touches), a prewash is a great way to remove 90% of the dirty, smelly stuff before the regular cycle starts. Without a prewash, the whole load stews in the nastiness and can come out less than fully clean.
