Summary: I spent more money on this machine than I ever had on a washer. Always heard Maytag's were so good. Don't know if it's Maytag or this model, but it's awful. I've read some reviews that you need to read instructions. If it were only that simple. I've had repair folks out and they gave me tips and I followed them to the letter but it just doesn't clean. That's not completely true, if I only wash a few items at a time I have a better chance of getting them clean.
Summary: We bought the machine 2/2011 and we have always had problem with it not filling correctly, leaving the clothes dirty, whites dingy along with clumps of soap. A month ago we had the shift actuator repaired. Now a few weeks later same issue. Looking for a new machine. My parents owned a Maytag for over 20 years, this one lasted a little over 2 years just enough to get it by the warranty.
Summary: If having a washing machine last you 2 yr is what you are looking for then buy this washer. They could not figure out the problem but would not help me at all because I didn't have an extended warranty. I spent well over $200 on service people coming out and no one including Maytag/Whirlpool could figure out the problem. They were not willing to give me a new washer or not even give me a credit for a 2 yr old machine they could not figure out what was wrong with.
Summary: I really enjoyed this machine while it worked. It cleaned my clothes beautifully, I liked that it was HE efficient, I liked that it was top loader and I liked the features and functions. I did have a problem about a year after I bought it and Maytag had excellent service to send out a serviceman to my house at no cost to repair it even though I did not have store warrantee anymore. They were very responsive. Otherwise the machine was problem free.
Summary: Just two years old and it has gone to the washer dump yard. Clothes did not come out as clean as they did when I had all my old Maytags (which lasted an average of 12 years). The clothes often had to go through extra spin cycles to remove the water. After nearly two years, the spin cycle got louder and louder until it finally stopped. I thought I was lucky to have bought the extended warranty. Wrong!
Excerpt: Nothing like the washing machines of the past. Takes some getting use to and I am still getting use to it. Have had to adjust the spin cycle to get more of the water out of some of the clothes and don't understand not using as much water but my clothes do seem to be clean and I have been able to wash my comforter from my king bed as well as the mattress cover with no problem.
Pros: Adjustable Settings, Clean Clothes Well, Energy Efficient, Large Capacity
Summary: Purchased this washer from a local dealer (not Amazon). Run away screaming from this washing machine! We could not get clean clothes out of this machine no matter what we did, including varying the HE detergent type and amount, trying all the different cycles, etc. Clothes came out dirty and with detergent residue on them. Maytag customer service was no help. We junked this washing machine after about 5 frustrating months. I'd give it zero stars if that were an option.
Summary: I'm sorry to say that this is by far the worst Washing Machine I have ever owned. It does not clean my clothes and it leaves gobs of soap and lint residue on my clothing. I am sure to use only the "recommended" amount of detergent (made especially for HE machines), so I know I am not causing this issue myself. I have also tried using white distilled vinegar, running extra rinse cycles, and I've spent more than I care to admit on cleaning tablets; no luck.
Summary: This washer failed after 24 months! We are retired and it has light use. Service call was $75 and bill to fix tub seal and gear box was $449. Not worth fixing. Maytag customer service was no help in anyway. Can no longer recommend Maytag after using them for 40 years. Its a shame! STAY AWAY!
Summary: After 10 months started making more noise than usual. Still under warrenty and when tech arrived said he new what was causing the noise. Tipped unit up and put bolt back on drum shaft, this time, with some lock tight. Poor design. Now after 2 plus years unit does not run, my first choice has been lid lock assembly but most likely the control board. Considering the researched cost of the control board I probably just buy a samsung.
