Summary: Google "Maytag MHWE950W loud spin cycle" and you will find countless reports of bearing and other part failures within the first year of use. Unfortunately for me, all the negative reviews were written after I purchased this washer. The stories are true - after about 9 months, the spin cycle on my washer got louder and louder to the point where it can be heard from across the street and can't be used at night to be respectful of my neighbors.
Summary: I grew up in a house with a Maytag combo washer and dryer that lasted over 25 years, so decided to stick to Maytag when I finally bought my own house. This washer is made in Germany and appears very solid and well-built. I've been using this washer for about 3 months now, and it cleans clothes very well with the Tide HE liquid detergent I use (I don't add softener or bleach).
Summary: This is the perfect washer for families. The sanitize option gives me the peace of mind that my bedding and towels are germ free. It is so quiet that I've gone it to make sure it's still on. Great purchase!
Summary: It cleans well, and we have yet to notice the mildew smell everyone warned us about in three month. Our two year old keeps us on our toes with stain fighting, and this machine has removed them all. Love the steam and oxi mode as well as the quiet option.
Summary: I upgraded my old Kenmore Space Saver for a Maytag Performance set with steam clean feature. This washer gets my clothes cleaner, can do more laundry at a time (easily 4 times as much as the Kenmore), and uses less water and electricity. It also uses less detergent. Everything still comes out quite clean. I wanted the steam feature because I have allergies and wanted to be able to clean pillows. Works great.
