bear on bearings, AJ Madison
28 December 2013
  • Summary: Beware of BEARINGS! Our beautiful new machine lasted less than 1 year and we needed to replace the bearings (which is a complete gut job... not a repair). A year and a half later AGAIN bearings are gone. A beautiful machine that works well, however the bearings are the weakest link for this machine!! I will NEVER buy Maytag again.

Awful durability and customer support

  • Summary: Had the washer about 8 months and bearings started to go bad (early warning is that it starts to get louder). Repair job without extended warranty is about $1500 and sounds like it is a fairly common problem (occurring on 30% of all these washers?). Here's how my service went: - Over 8 hours on the phone with Maytag / Whirlpool - Had to pick up all of the parts myself from local UPS shipping center.

Not dependable

  • Summary: Had the washer for just over a year and the bearing on the tube whent bad. The bearing is part of the outer tub and you need to replace the tub which cost over $400.00 to repair. And that is without labor. So if you buy this washewr I would get the extended warranty. My last GE washer lated over ten years so it is not that I don't use the washer correctly.

  • Summary: This is one of the best purchases we have made with regard to a washer/dryer. I would recommend this over LG, GE, Samsung. It is a good buy for the money and runs better than any machine I have seen as yet. (Am 63!
