Summary: Don't buy this...they have a pump filter that you can N OT access without disassembling the front and top panels and removing the door. So after a few years of hair collecting in the filter, you have to call a repairman.
Excerpt: I replaced a top loader that was over 15 years old. I was skeptical of getting a front loader because of the things I heard about odors in the machine and on clothes. I've had my machine since 7/4/13 and while it may be too early to tell, I've not encountered any problem with odors. I follow the recommendations to wipe the door and rubber seals after I'm done with washing. I also run the washer once per month with a tablet made to clean the machine.
Pros: Adjustable Settings, Clean Clothes Well, Energy Efficient, Large Capacity, Quiet, Spins Clothes Dry
Summary: This washer replaced a 6 yr. old Cabrio top-loader. Our clothes are clean and shed a lot less lint than our old unit. While doing the very first load, I thought the machine was not working. Then I realized it was just so QUIET! Our Cabrio sounded like a helicopter landing. Now when this washer is at top spin speed, my family can't believe it. Great features, and very easy to use. This model is now discontinued. Get it while you can!
Summary: 1. Maintenance - There are three holes in the rubber gasket at the bottom of the door sill that drain the soiled water from the basin. If you have any type of pet, cat or dog, this will quickly get blocked and not allow for the basin to drain. This soiled water will be used through each subsequent load. I'm going through the owners manual and online to try and determine how this was recommended to be cleaned and maintained.
Summary: Having the Maxima for 3 months, it has been serviced 3 times for not spinning, most often but not always during a bedding cycle. Items STILL come out DRIPPING wet for non-clothing loads. Either I have a lemon, the the Maxima is just a lemon.
Summary: I have only owned this machine for about a week now but it is amazing!!! Yes, the washing times are longer than a normal washer but the spin cycle is so damn fast it only takes about 15 minutes to dry even my heavy clothes. You can't imagine how fast this thing spins until you see it in action - 1,400 RPMs!!! It also uses very, very little water which is kind of alarming at first and you have to use "high efficiency" detergent.
