While it may save water it sure wastes time and electricity. And don't buy it if you're planning to wash sheets -- it gets unbalanced and stops at least two out of three times. I called LG about the problem and was brightly told to keep a pile of t shirts handy to throw in with my sheets! Can't really say that's helped.
Everything needs an extra rinse if you want it to come out smelling halfway decent. And do not leave the lid down by mistake even for a few hours or you'll have to run the tub clean cycle again to get the mildew smell out.
The stainless-looking trim is getting pitted and degraded after less than one year and no harsh cleaning.
I really hate this machine and dread doing laundry since I got it.
WORST WASHER EVER. A top loader without an agitator to wear out clothes seemed like a good idea, but the thing gets unbalanced constantly. Then it tries to balance for a while by running water in and swishing and draining, and then doing it again and again. Finishing a wash takes hours and you cannot leave it unsupervised for long. Washing large loads worked as a fix for a while for a while, but after a 'fix' because a recall, it is even worse. It uses many more gallons of water than it should it its vain attempts to balance the load, with small loads, large loads, any kind of load.
The cons outweigh the pros. Thr LG WT5001C is 10 months old and cost $650 at Home Depot. Now the machine has an odor that I can't get rid of. I used the monthly cleaning cycle and I have even tried weekly. Now we have a musty smell in the laundry room that is spreading through the house. Even if I can get rid of the smell, the wash cycles run 121 minutes. Also having to leave the lid up all the time bugs me.
Today I am on my 3rd phone number and have been on hold for 30 minutes.
I guess I know what I am getting for Christmas!
