Summary: This washer has torn several pieces of clothing over the past year. Repairman can't find issue and Amana customer service can't be bothered. We have also had to replace that glass in the door that shattered during a load of laundry. Glass and water everywhere and mroe torn clothing.
Summary: I have had my washer for about 3 years now, and have never had a problem with it, and it's nevet smelled bad either! My hisband have 2 teens, one of which is a boy, do it's handled very dirty loads, and many coins, etc. have gone through it with no problem. I do always ensure that the door and detergent cup are left open when it's not in use, and usually do at least one load of bleached clothes rach week.
Would hate frontloaders IF I based it off this washer

Summary: If this was the ONLY front loader I've used I would never buy another. I have had problem after problem with my washer since I bought it. Until it turned 13 months old the problems where minor and I could live with them and it did not change how the washer functioned. A few examples: Its a sock monster, smaller laundry (socks, toddler shirts, undies etc) gets trapped in the door area during the wash.
Summary: Thought it being an Amana made a good choice. NOT! Lasted less than any other washer I've owned. Did not handle heavy loads well. Lasted less than 7 years, poor for a washer. Bearings went. Didn't seem to balance well even with light loads - would hop around and I even had it balanced with a level. Won't buy another Amana product.
Summary: manufacturer responsibility to defective parts sucks. Door boot seal got worn out and my clothes stick to it and got ripped after they replaced it with a faulty one. call them to fix it and because my warranty was up they say I have to fix it. My washer is not even 2 years old and I now have to buy another one because the cost to just replace that seal is close to the cost of a new one.
Summary: I purchased this washer in February and it seemed to work fine for sometime. But, then I started having the same problems as others have reported and finally it just stopped working. One technician (Chad) showed up and said this is a common problem and that a new board (main controller) is needed. He ordered it and set a follow-up appointment a week later to come in and install that part.
Summary: We bought our machine a few years ago and have had one problem after another. First the seal leaked so a repairman came and replaced it, with the same model seal, and once again it started leaking so we called again and this time it was replaced with a different model door seal and the problem was fixed. Then twice we had a coin get stick in the motor so we had to pay to have a repairman come and remove the coin. To my way of thinking this is a major flaw in the machine.
