Summary: This product is the perfect size but if you want to use the GMRS channels (over half of them available) you have to obtain a license from the FCC which will cost about $85 for my use I'm sticking with the FCR channels but it would have been nice if I would have understood what I was purchasing to begin with.
Summary: This product claims 12 mile so I bought it as a communication tool for the islands. Even in line of sight all we got was about 2/10 mile. This product is a joke. I gave them to my nephew for a toy. Amazon should be ashamed selling this cr@# !!!!!!!
Summary: After reading all the reviews for kids walkie talkies, I decided to try these since they got much better reviews. They are awesome! My son loves them. They are small enough for his little hands (he is 4) & not too small for ours. We live in a bldg where the walls are concrete, but we tested them throughout the place as well as one up in the apartment & the other down in the parking garage - still worked! We have not tested them for super long distances, miles.
Great for kids for the price; battery dies very quickly

Summary: I like these walkie talkies; bought them for the kids to use around the house and yard b/c the "toy" ones were just as expensive and didn't even work. I can't comment on the range b/c we haven't tested it. But the kids LOVE using these, and the sound quality is pretty good. maybe even too loud! I'd recommend these above any of the toy ones available out there. and the seem sturdy.
Summary: I purchased them as a gift for my elderly relatives (a husband and wife). The husband does not hear well, so this was perfect for the wife, who is bedridden to speak to husband when she needed him. It works out in the neighborhood when he is walking the dog and even in town when he is shopping. Very clear for both of them to hear each other. BEST of all, them managed to figure out how to use them right away.
Summary: The battery ran out within 10 minutes on the first pair I purchased for my 2 and 6 year old sons. I returned it (still have not gotten my refund 4 weeks later) and got a new pair. The new ones are a little better...they last maybe up to an hour. That would be my biggest criticism - you will go through alot of batteries...but other than that they function well and are small and easy to use. I did not test the 12 mile range...my boys just use these for play at home.
Summary: 12 miles? On what planet? I'm lucky if I can go 1/2 mile before the signal on these things starts to break up!! Although, for $20 I'm not the least bit surprised. You get what you pay for in this world. I'll keep them to use around the office, but I will not be cancelling my Nextel service any time soon! If I had any kids, I would give these to them to use as toys! LOL!
