Summary: These radios have good sound, some nice features, the usual fraction-of-listed range; but the batteries are the real puzzle. I'm using brand new hybrid rechargeable AAA's; on a full charge, after two or three hours of intermittent use, both radios were drained--or so they said. But when I took the batteries out, and put them into two other Uniden radios (different model)--they ran and worked for at least another two days! This behavior is reproducible.
Summary: I don't want to rate this product, since I haven't used it. I had to, though... I just wanted to share with everybody that this product still does not come with a charger. I received them, left them unopened upon not seeing a charger, called customer service (they didn't do anything about the posting), and sent them back. A waste of time and effort and extra hassle and waiting to get the money back. Do not get mislead by pictures or descriptions.
Summary: The battery packs in these walkie talkies last for about an hour only- I am very disappointed in the quality. We need them for emergencies throughout the day- this is a farmed animal sanctuary- non-profit and we cannot afford to purchase new batteries after paying for these already. I am willing to change my review if we get new batteries.
Summary: Does not compare with Motorola. The range was poor. Interestingly, when I pressed the call button, that was transmitted but the recipient couldn't pick up my voice and vice versa. If they work for you, then you have a good deal. But not for me.
Summary: The two way radios were just the thing to keep in touch with my son on the slopes. The voice is clear and the reception is fine as long as you are both on the same side of the mountain. On a busy ski day there were many others on the same channel and we had to keep changing our channel until we found an exclusive line. The claim of up to 10 miles reception did not hold true for us. Within a mile we were fine then no signal at all. It could be the terrain or the forest.
Summary: These radios are very good. Ten miles will be rare but possible, more likely 2-4. I used them on a ship & they worked all over, especially through the decks-very happy with their performance. However, don't get these without the battery pack, I did & used 4 AAA rechargeable batteries. These didn't last long (4-6 hours) before having to be recharged.
Summary: The four units I purchased served the intended purpose just fine. Easy to use and set up. We were on the road 600 miles, three vehicles, one being a 26 foot rental truck. Keeping in touch was a must and they worked just fine. However, the claim of a 10 mile range is ludicrous to say the least. Uniden must have tested the range with one on top of Mt. Everest and the other on another nearby mountain top. Battery life is poor to ridiculous even on low power.
Summary: AT THE TIME THAT I BOUGHT THESE, IT CAME OUT TO 12.00 PER UNIT (24.00 FOR THE PAIR) VERY GOOD DEAL...AMAZON ADVERTISES THAT IT COMES WITH CHARGING UNITS AND IT DOES NOT. BE VERY CAREFUL. I HAVE COMPLAINED AND IT STILL SAYS IT ON THE WEBSITE FOR 2WEEKS NOW. APART FROM THAT -ITS A PRETTY NICE UNIT, RECEPTION IS FINE (NOT 10MILES THOUGH) ABOUT 1-2 MILES ON A BUSY HIGHWAY..BATTERY LIFE IS POOR.. WITH CONSTANT USE, YOU CAN GET ALMOST 1 DAY OUT OF IT. 4 AAA BATTERIES.
