  • Excerpt: Bad audio as the speaker sound is "Slurred" as if the speaker had a piece of loose tissue paper over it. Receiving sound is NOT clean and crisp. We use these for security patrol for our town home community.
  • Pros: Lightweight, Rugged
  • Cons: Bad Audio, Poor Reception

Great tough radios

  • Excerpt: These radios feel solid. I like that they have two (high and low) transmission settings so you can conserve battery power when you're dealing with closer ranges. The built in flash-light came in handy, and the vibrate feature is cool!
  • Pros: Clear Signal, Easy To Use, Good Audio, Lightweight, Rugged
  • Cons: Pricey But Worth It

Not too bad

  • Summary: This 3 pack does what it needs to do. I used it in a vehicle as I was moving to a new state. It transmitted from vehicle to vehicle pretty well up to about a 4 mile range in some hilly terrain. The hands free device works, but isn't all that easy to use and is pretty cheap.
  • Pros: long battery life
  • Cons: hands free device

Not worth the extra money

brian b., Newegg
24 September 2013
  • Summary: Spending all the time doing research led me to these headsets with extra noise cancelling features which I thought would work great, especially because they are rated at 35 miles compared to the 15 miles cheaper Talkabouts offer.
  • Pros: They are 2 way radios that work fairly well in close range. Seems like a sturdier construction than most Talkabouts. USB charger instead of dock. Ear buds included. Three in a pack.
  • Cons: These Talkabouts did not work any better than the cheaper Motorola Talkabout MJ series. Lots of power boost and noise reduction options, but none of them seemed to make any difference in overall QUALITY or RANGE (which to me are the two most most important quality I look for in 2-way radios).

Could be improved.

27 August 2013
  • Excerpt: These are good for what they are but, I think all of the 2-way radio companies could produce a better product. I had to modify the rechargeable batteries so they would maintain a connection when the radio was shaken. After this modification they work great.
  • Pros: Clear Signal, Easy To Use, Good Audio
  • Cons: Short Range
