Summary: You must charge the batteries completely before using them otherwise you will get poor performance. As the batteies drain, the useful distance diminishes.
Pros: Rechargeable batteries. Durable. Great for short distances under 1/4 mile. I bought two sets of these. One for my 9 years old nephews and a set to try for myself and son while hunting. The kids love theirs and they work very well around the house and all around their very large (1+acre) yard. I'v...
Summary: Totally misrepresented claims. How people can do that and live with themselves is a mystery to me.
Cons: I have ten year old motorola walkabouts that were rated for two miles and get three here in foothills of tucson, big country. The range on these midlands is less than a mile. The motorolas have many more channels and subchannels on top of those. These have a lousy twenty channels and I hear compe...
Summary: These are a great idea to keep track of kids! They love them and don't mind Mom or Dad checking in on them. Ideal to have in a theme park, or anywhere members of your party may get separated.
Pros: Just got these two way radios, I have to say my family is just thrilled with these. We haven't really tested the distance claim, but for our puposes these are a great value! The reception is good and they are light weight, and fun!
Cons: You may want to get a separate battery charger, see prior reviews. Have not had any problems.
Summary: All rechargeable batteries need lots of ventilation while they are charging to prevent heat damage to them. CHARGING THEM INSIDE THE RADIO IS VERY, VERY STUPID ! BESIDES, THE CHARGER WILL DESTROY THEM, ANYWAY, if you forget to unplug it (*everyone* will).
Pros: Midland is probably the best manufacturer of low cost 2-way radios. This is the cheaper version of the Midland LXT112 model.
Cons: DO NOT USE THE CHARGER !!! If you forget to remove the charger's plug after the batteries are charged IT WILL DESTROY THE BATTERIES FOR CERTAIN. *Nobody* should need to monitor battery recharging this closely.
