Excerpt: We were very skeptical about purchasing the two-way radios. But as it turns out; this is one of the best products we had purchased for our company in a long time. It has made it so much easier to reach our staff.
Summary: Best bang for your buck if you're using these in an office environment. I only use them at low power, so I can't make any claims about high-power use. Make sure if you plan to use them for high power to get the full 20 mile range, that you plan ahead for your FCC license.
Pros: Small, rechargeable, comes with power supply, easy to use
Cons: Can't leave them on while charging. Need FCC license to use them at high power. Low power receives interference...intermittent on some, constant on others (I bought two sets, one of the four individual radios gets interference static bursts on a regular basis, the other 3 do not). No flat surface...
Excerpt: We purchased 6 of these for use at work. Two of them refuse to charge. They are one of the least expensive ones for a reason. The old adage is correct -- you get what you pay for. I would rate these 5 stars if we could get the other 2 handsets to charge.
Conclusion: We have always used Cobra walkie talkies on cruises (39 in 13 years). Unfortunately, we needed to cancel the latest cruise so we have not used our latest Cobra purchase, other than to check it out - I found it to work perfectly, as advertised.
