Pros: Good price, good battery life. Good sound quality if you are not too far away... Like the power output regulation, and power saving mode.
Cons: definitely not a 3mile in the city, maybe something close to 1mile(at best). Very incontinent "talk" button- it's tiny, but covered with a big piece of rubber (minus one egg). All the buttons are not easy to push, it's probably good in the forest(or anywhere outdoor) though...
Summary: These radios are GMRS radios (not FRS radios) and therefore require the operator to obtain an FCC license for lawful operation. Penalties provided by law for an unlicensed operator are up to $10,000 and 1 year in prison. Look it up before before buying these radios.
Pros: The radios are inexpensive and adequate, if you have obtained the required $85 FCC license.
Cons: The disclosures here do not mention that an $85 FCC license is required to operate these radios, and you can go to jail if you don't get it. This cost is more than the radios and it is unconscionable that this is hidden and not mentioned in the advertising.
Cons: One of the hand set does not turn on at all..I did not have a chance to open & use the radio in time to make a return. Now-I have on one with not very good reception...DO NOT RECOMMEND this radio.
Summary: Purchased 4 pairs of these for use in a mixed indoor/outdoor setting. Got good range and voice was clear sounding. Have purchased and used other models of Corba FMRS' but this one is the best so far. Cannot beat the price to value.
Summary: IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION THEY CAN,T BE BEAT FOR CLARITY, RANGE. OBVIOUSLY, IF ALL CELL, ELECT. LINES ETC. ARE DOWN, INTERFERENCE IS LESS, MAKING RANGE MORE OPTIMUM. UNLESS YOU HAVE HAM RADIO YOU WOULD NEED TO CONSIDER THIS OPTION.ESPECIALLY IF YOU NEED TO GET TO A LOVED ONE AND NO ONE ELSE.
Pros: BEST BANG FOR THE BUCK! DOES EXACTLY WHAT IT SAYS IT WILL DO. I'M A CHECK ALL PERSON. USE THESE TWO PLUS A MIDLAND BASE STATION FOR HURRICANE SEASON AND TWO KEEP UP WITH PEOPLE WHEN NEEDED. THE CLARITY IS EXCEPTIONAL. BATTERY LIFE GREAT. PLUS. NEWEGG BEAT ALL PRICES.
Cons: NOT AS STURDY AS OUR MOTOROLA COMMERICIAL ONES, BUT DOESN,T COST 4/8 TIMES AS MUCH EITHER. PLUS GETS BETTER RANGE! REMEMBER THESE RADIOS OPERATE ON DIFFERENT FREQUENCIES THAN HAM, CB,POLICE AND OTHER EMERGENCY CHANNELS. SO THEY ARE MORE PRIVATE, MAKING THEM LESS 'WALKED ON', SO TO SPEAK.
Summary: Consumer grade radios NEVER reach X amount of claimed miles - it's all marketing hype in "ideal conditions". However, my range is exceptional with these radios - close to 2 miles and that's great for consumer grade. No other off-the-shelf radios will even get this kind of range, try it.
