Still a good platform to start with

  • Conclusion: I purchased the 148gtl to replace one that was stolen years ago,I have other radios but not with sideband capability. Yes as others say it does not perform well out the box like the older side mic versions but it will tune well with the right tech. I have owned my new version of this old classic for over a year with no problems and tons of great local and dx responces. The reciever is still the best as others have tried to copy it.

how do you get it to work..

  • Pros: I applied an antenna hooked up 12 vdc right polarity...turned on ran it through the chaneles it lights up but I cant hear a sound all volume are full up...Do you test these things before you send them????

  • Pros: super durable, excellent performance, easily tuned up, readily repairable (but you wont need it)
