Cheap chinese junk! Spend a little more and get a non-black and decker one

Summary: Typical black and decker Chinese made crap... Used it about 5 times before it just turned off in the middle of making a waffle one morning. I think the only time out of all five times it didn't stick was the very first time I cooked one. I tried cleaning it just like all my other Teflon surfaces products and by like the third time it was literally splitting my waffles when I lifted the top up.
Summary: We have had this waffel maker for two years. It has had two problems since the first time we used it. 1. The thermostat is set too high. The instructions say to cook until the lamp goes out. The waffel is very over cooked, almost to the point of burning, when the lamp goes out. 2. The no stick coating is low quality. The instructions state that the maker only needs to be oil coated after several waffels. However, they begin to stick immediately.
Summary: I received this item as a gift and love the way it cooks the waffles evenly and to a slightly crunchy consistency. BUT the hinge broke after a handful of uses. I called Black & Decker and they said the hinge itself is not "user serviceable" meaning they won't send you replacement hinges to fix it. They'll send you just the cap- useless.

Summary: I've had this since December 2012. The first time we used it, we found that the connection on top was loose for the heating element--it made it cook unevenly. Fortunately, my husband is handy and was able to fix it (still annoying to deal with from a BRAND NEW item). However, it is a pain to clean because the heating element is still a loose--batter gets in between and we have to take it apart once in a while. Now, the teflon is coming off and onto the waffles--gross!
