  • Excerpt: I now own two of these recorders only because this unit was bundled in with my purchase of the Senheiser G3 wireless lav kit. I wish it wasn't, but this unit can record up to two different audio inputs simultaneously. The onboard mics are awesome.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Low Distortion, Versatile

Solid Recorder

  • Excerpt: I use this product for interview recording and I also have students using it to record direct from a mixing console to music performances. For interviews, it works great! Being able to adjust the input gain and monitor the signale visually with the digital VU meter is pretty nice. When recording from a mixer, we actually have to use a work around since the mixer signal is too hot and the resulting audio is distored.
  • Pros: Compact, Easy To Use, Excellent Sound, Versatile

  • Excerpt: It is a very versatile piece that I am using primarily as an external audio recorder for DSLR video. It is also great for recording meetings, phone conferences, etc. The multi-track recording is a bit cumbersome but for what it is - it packs a lot of punch!
  • Pros: Compact, Easy To Use
  • Cons: Batterymount Proximity, Battery Mount Proximity

Test run zoom h4n

  • Excerpt: Although the recorder is a bit too large to use with a lavier mic, it's sturdy cover and adjustable mic allow a starting film maker like myself to have options!

It's an excellent piece of kit for the price, but it comes with some caveats to be aware of.

  • Summary: Great construction and audio quality, and the value is fantastic for what you get in the box, but note: - There are no real audio editing functions. - Metronome does not keep in sync if you play from the middle of a track. To ensure sync when adding/rerecording you have use Punch-in and play from the beginning. Or, if it's a 4-track project, you could record a click track or beat from an external source.

Great Product

  • Excerpt: I used this for some short films I made and it worked great. The preamps are little less noisy than the Tascam I've used previously. The only thing I wish it had was an updated display and a dial to set levels, instead of buttons. I also wish it had a metal body for durability.
  • Pros: Compact, Easy To Use, Excellent Sound, Versatile
  • Cons: Poor Quality Construction

Awesome

  • Excerpt: Just got this recorder and love it. It was a little confusing getting the audio from the zoom to my MacBook because the software that comes with the zoom is not compatible with the latest Mac iOS, and the last zoom I had automatically showed up on the desktop like an external drive. However, it wasn't that hard to figure out how transfer to audio.
