Musician's Friend
22 January 2013
  • Excerpt: I chose the pcm m10 because (according to online reviews) it has better built-in mics than zoom or edirol, superior battery life to the tascams, better user interface than the olympus line, and is cheaper than the roland, marantz, and sony d50 with good enough quality that I'll probably never know...

Review: Sony PCM-M10 Linear Recorder

2 September 2010
  • Excerpt: College is about procrastination. More precisely, it’s a chance to hone the important responsibility of shirking skills and techniques you’ll later use in the real world. So why shouldn’t note taking (or lack thereof) be a part of that learning experience?

Current street price is actually about half the MSRP. Handy wired remote for controlling things from the comfort of yo...
  • Cons: Prepare to part with a month’s worth of beer money. Bulky. Menu structure can be confusing. Crappy built-in speaker (use headphones).

Sony PCM M10B

21 December 2012
  • Summary: Sony have thought hard about what the user needs to know and do, made sure that the M10 gives them all the feedback they need, and have delivered it all in an ergonomically efficient and attractive little package.
  • Pros: A Sony PCMD‑series recorder at a relatively affordable price., Potential 20GB of storage., Good signal‑level feedback., Big, ergonomic display., Capable of clear, balanced recordings., Remote for transport controls.
  • Cons: Mic positions are fixed., Some functions buried too deeply in menus., Not the cheapest thing on the market.
