Sony PCM-M10

The Sony PCM-M10, which retails at an MSRP of $399 brings ruggedness to the ‘prosumer’ and is a palm-sized device that supports built-in microphone, on-board flash memory, and the facility to record from external line-level devices or microphones. The M10 also has dedicated transport buttons on the front panel, as well as a menu system that can be used to delve deeper into the settings. It is capable of recording 24-bit audio at sample rates up to 96 kHz, and it can also record straight to MP3.

Features

The Sony PCM-M10 also features on-board DSP processors that can alter the pitch and speed of audio during playback, that allows users to slow down recordings, like a recorded guitar solo in order to learn how to play it; and a limiter that can be engaged to prevent the input signal from distorting. The PCM-M10 also includes recording functions such as a five-second buffer; option to install a removable flash memory card, which can be used for computer-less backup and for extending the total recording time of the device (a cross-memory feature spreads a long recording over both the on-board memory and the flash card); and connectivity via USB to a computer. The Sony PCM-M10 features 4 GB internal flash memory and supports microSD and Memory Stick Micro memory cards. It is powered by AA batteries.
