Summary: Well the noise cut function on the actual recorder is cool, as I have to record minutes from meetings where people are eating, clanking things, moving chairs around, etc, but the transcription software is just completely useless. Completely. Useless.
Summary: Well I have owned several voice recorders and they have been Olympus brand so i decided to get this Sony ICD-PX312f Digital Voice Recorder With FM tuner and its extremely basic and responds a little slower than my other recorders the reason i got it was for the FM tuner doesn't work well with radio stations "wich i don't ever listen to" some of static noise I don't know why .apparently ear phones are the antenna and if you move you can expect that annoyance.
Summary: I use speech-to-text regularly on my laptop, so my negative report on the Dragon software is NOT the result of inexperience or improper use! Their software, though widely advertised, is ABSOLUTE GARBAGE! I can't say anything positive about their customer service, either... I sent this as a gift to a friend who runs a small counseling office, to help with trancription of patient and case notes, and she was unable to get any use from the software.
Summary: Very handy, good product, I just deeply regret one thing : It is complicated to see the duration of a message AND the recording date AND the recording time. You have to go in the menu, then select one of these display modes, and then go back to the message and start playing it... It would have been much simpler to provide a "display" key that shows these informations as we press it...
Sony ICD-PX312f Digital voice recorded with FM tuner
1 April 2013
Summary: The unit looks great and has many features! However, the operating manual, which in fact is actually about 10 different manuals for various laguages, which are all basically useless, does not give adequate detailed information in English as to all the features you can use. Wth all the benifical features, you are on your own to figure out how ecah feature operates. This is the difficult and frustrating part.
Records well but a little too large, no pocket clip, and has bad user interface

Summary: On paper the ICD-PX312 has a good feature set, has USB & microSD slot for more storage. But the user interface is not very good compared to older models, particularly the Olympus VN-240. THE GOOD: + Batteries are included. Also a a mini-USB to USB cable is included for transfer. + Using the onboard memory (no external microSD) you can record for over 20 hours on SHQ mode. THE BAD: - Just as in previous Sony recorders I find the Recording interface is dumb.
