Summary: I bought this recorder because I needed one for class lectures. The price was excellent and I've always trusted Sony for quality products. The sound quality is very clear and the very best of all is the battery life (2 AAA batteries) is unbelieveable. It still has 5 bars and I have used it for hours !! The only downside is that it comes on easily while in my purse... say while shopping it will just randomly come on or record whatever is going on at the time.
Summary: These days, simpler is better. To me, this product isn't that simple. It may be that I just haven't taken the time to thoroughly read and understand the instructions. I bought this to capture family stories for genealogy purposes. I assumed (uh oh) that because it was digital I'd be able to plug it into my computer and save the recordings. Nope.
Summary: I am writing a book and this really comes in handy when I am out and taling with friends. Sometimes subjects come up that I would not ordinarily remember by the time I get home. This way, I can speak a few key words to preserve those precious memories or anecdotes. The tone is perfectly clear and the recorder is NOT a battery hog. I do remove the batteries when it is not in use and they are simple to re-install.
Summary: The product works very well except it is missing a USB slot for uploading audio files to a computer. This can be sidestepped using an aux cable and having a device record it from your computer, but still an annoying feature. I guess the saying stands, good things aren't cheap and cheap things aren't good.
Summary: Have 2 semesters worth of recordings on one of these. Still have space left. Wish it had a usb port to import to my computer and convert to mp3 so I could listen/review at the gym with my mp3 player, yet I knew it did not have this feature, and it's smaller than my mp3 player. I got it because of the price. It works.
