Missing feature

Robert T Barker, Amazon
23 September 2014
  • Summary: 4-stars and not 5 because of missing feature: we should be able to resume a paused recording that times out. For example, when you pause a recording too long the recorder shuts off to conserve battery power HOWEVER there's no apparent way to resume from that file and it forces you to start a new recording. Essentially I now have two files for the one recording.

HARD TO SEE SCREEN

Jim, Amazon
21 April 2014
  • Summary: I bought the Philips DVT to speak my book into machine and translate it into Dragon. I find the directions and symbols to be very tedious to learn. It is not hard, but frankly theres cheap fonts screen looks like something for the 1980's.. It would have been better off with one or two commands for each assignment. The recorder records your voice, but sounds grainy.

Works great (even under Linux)

Raymund Eich, Amazon
14 March 2014
  • Summary: First, for Linux users: setup under wine 1.6.1 in my 64-bit Ubuntu derivative distro took a little effort. I had to install to a 32-bit wineprefix, and the program would only accept my training recording as a .wav file. After training, a number of bugs impeded the full functionality of the software.

For capturing voice - excellent; For Dragon, not so much.

HARRYWILL, Amazon
23 January 2014
  • Summary: I broke my old Digital Voice Recorder and decided to spring for this one. I already had Dragon Naturally Speaking on my computer, and it worked just fine, but this recorder comes with Dragon software to convert the audio files directly into text. No need to create a document by reading - or playing the voice recording - "in real time." Rather the software would process and convert the audio.

Perfect Solution

NJMom, Amazon
15 January 2014
  • Summary: I use this to track my ideas and it's awesome! I've used Dragon Speak Naturally before and I've always been impressed by it's accuracy. This device comes with a "lite" version of dragon Speak Naturally, so you basically speak into the digital transcriber, plug it into your computer and it types up what you talked. I use this because I ALWAYS have the greatest book ideas when I'm driving to work, but by the time i get to work I forget them.

Difficulty with the Recorder

Ann Taliaferro, Amazon
8 January 2014
  • Summary: Right now we are having problems. We have loaded it in with profile user but we have been unable to locate the file for the speech that was made. We are having someone look at the computer tonight and if it doesn't work we may have to return for an easier model. The rating is because we have not been able to use it properly.
