Summary: When I opened the device i was surprised at how small it is. Small is good since it will easily fit into your pocket. I recorded a live musical that had both very quiet moments and very loud moments with a full orchestra blasting away. I chose LPCM mode which is the highest quality recording option on this device with mic sensitivity to high and both mic auto level control and peak limiter turned on.
Summary: This is the niftiest little recorder of its type I've ever seen. No need to repeat all the positive comments - they're all true. Excellent functionality and quality. I'm a commercial FM radio chief engineer (SBE CPBE) and have seen a lot of audio recording equipment in my time. I couldn't be more pleased. It can record uncompressed PCM, which is a nice touch for top audio quality. However, I'm content with the various MP3 options in my usage.
Summary: it is really difficult to read the display - and I am not using any glasses! and it did not say that it does not have any back light. the manipulation is really difficult without that light if there is a question about concerts and so on which is this voice recorder especially recomended for!
Summary: This device needs a larger screen with bigger fonts Its other real weakness is that it has a very small speaker which is a surprise being from panasonic who usually have very good speakers on their audio recorders.
Summary: The only reason I give this 4 stars, and not 5 is because the display is a little too small for my antiquated vision, and the onboard built-in speaker volume is limited. However, I don't consider these aspects to be design flaws, since if you want a small IC recorder, there have to be some compromises. This is an otherwise excellent product, captures the moment with speech or music, perfectly, and boasts stunning sound quality, when monitoring using decent headphones.
Summary: Although this unit appears to have been discontinued, you will probably find it at a lot of sellers. It's very small--much too small! I've been a huge Panasonic fan in the past for their quality, but this unit does not live up to the company's reputation. The audio, PCM, is, of course, outstanding. I only use it for voice, so that's not really even a consideration. The display is hard to read; since it's unlit, it's really hard to read!
Summary: This recording device does a passable job, but is disappointingly lightweight and not user friendly. The unit is very small and a large hand would have great difficulty manipulating the tiny controls. The led is miniscule. It doesn't look like it's built to withstand the test of time. The manual is microscopic and should come with a magnifying glass. An ipod it ain't.
