Excerpt: What do we want in a voice recorder? It’s simple, really: Diverse audio options, an easy-to-use organizational display, and enough sensitivity to preserve sounds with lifelike fidelity. Well, two out of three ain’t bad.
Pros: Zoom Recording feature cleanly picks up audio from any direction you aim the player. At 3lbs, it’s the lightest player we tried, and it’s also the cheapest.
Cons: Theoretically, you’re supposed to use the joystick and scroll wheel in tandem to control playback, volume, and recording quality–in reality this control set only serves to get you hopelessly lost in the murky, confusing menu. A smallish, narrow screen renders graphic icons virtually unreadable.
