Summary: I wanted a recorder to record a speach in an auditorium. No matter what I tried, it would not record anything clear enough to hear and understand. It would be recording from over head speakers. But it came out bad, really bad. So now the recorder player is just gathering dust. Oh well, I tried.
Replaces and old Sony which was all metal for the Paanasonic; hope it hold up like the Sony

Summary: I lost a Sony tape recorder of earlier vintage (model unknown) which was very reliable. In an effort to replace the lost Sony I selected a current generation portable tape recorder, the Pasasonic RQ-L31.
Summary: I am very happy with the supplier and the product. Even though I have yet to try the tape recorder out (still waiting for my cassette tapes to arrive), I am impressed by the past reviews, the different features, and the simple instructions. Today is a good day! :-)
Summary: Recording on the RQ-L31 precludes playback on other equipment. Quality transcribers don't have three-times playback, so you are relegated to using this recording device for playback and transcribing.
Summary: It is a good full size tape recorder, has many features but also missing some. The sound is average and the microphone can be more sensitive. Some features are not very useful like playing the tape in slow speed. What would have been a better feature is to play in slightly faster speed option.
