I love that it has a rechargeable battery and a lot ...

Summary: This recorder had been a life saver when studying. I sit through several hours of lecture making it hard to stay focused all the time. I also have an professor that is a speed talker and at times hard to keep up with.
Summary: This is a must have for someone who needs to document meetings. Would recommend using rechargable batteries, but overall the recorded last for quite awhile. Use this with both the direct plug in to phone line as well as recording conferences off a speaker phone. Sound quality is excellent.
Ease of use--check! Clarity in recording--double check!

Summary: I purchased this initially for Yoga Teacher Training and it has been fantastic! There's a noise canceling feature that helps take some of the squeaks, rumbles, and downtown what-have-you that you don't want and the clarity of the recording has been absolutely worth the purchase.
This recorder picks up so much background noise in class ...

Summary: This recorder picks up so much background noise in class. If I do not sit directly in front of the class right by the professor, then this device will pick up every noise that goes on in the classroom. My classrooms consist of no more than 30 students. Just imagine if I had a 600+ freshman class.
Good little recorder but not for micing up with a lav for events.

Summary: This operates as advertised, but its best recording mode is Linear PCM 16bit/44kHz. It doesn't sound very good and I'm not super picky with this type of recorder. So, it is relegated to being a backup lav mic recorder because the audio is nowhere near what a Zoom H1 or Tascam DR-40 produces.
Summary: Voice recorders may be being edged out of the market by smart phones and other devices, but I still find them very useful. This Olympus WS-802 is a well-built, feature filled recorder. I can use it not only for dictation, but often use it to record public speaking for distribution later to others.
