Summary: I'd happily switch to a one-track (instead of multi-file choices) simple Play-Stop-Record-Rewind type of recorder with minutes left counter and battery-low viewer . This model is a tiny computer with useless extras which needs reviewing the use-book and strong eye glasses to use . I've used it twice since I bought it. it's like-new condition. I went to Radio Shak but the workers there couldn't figure out how to work it either .
Summary: I really love this device for listening to spoken audios without earphones. I had the older model of this recorder/player, and one day I thought it broke so I quickly checked Amazon to see if I could get another one. That's when I discovered this model. It's much better than the WS-331 in ease of use, plus it has twice the memory. I like the way the buttons are laid out and the backlit screen is easier to read and navigate.
Sound quality and mic sensitivy is great. Can charge its battery connected to a USB port.

Summary: Like every one of the 3 or 4 Olympus recorders I have or I've had, this WS-510M also has purely excellent audio quality and a very sensitive microphone system. This one is stereo or you can also set it for monophonic recording. (Mono seems to work best for phone call recording.) I only wish there was some way to power this thing from AC outlets. It will go into battery charge mode if you press and hold the stop button when connecting it to a USB port.
Summary: Despite the apparent complexity of using the controls this was not hard to work. Lots of recording time at the highest quality and records meetings with multiple people and can pick up bird calls or sounds OK.

Summary: I have the same comment as the one below (under the Noise cancelling microphone). I felt duped, as hidden costs were not outlined when the order was made. From under sixty dollars to almost two hundred dollars plus eighteen pounds cash at the door to the postman before I could have them. If I knew it would cost that much, I would never had picked them.
Summary: I had to buy a replacement quickly and didn't have a lot of money to spend at the time. The battery life of this recorder is unimpressive, and it takes forever to charge. You also have to press down "stop" while plugging it in, whereas with newer recorders you can just plug it in and the recorder already knows what to do. The quality of the recordings is fine. The recorder is good enough to use for classes, just don't forget to charge frequently.
