Summary: As a former police officer and now lawyer, this is a very useful tool!!! With the remote microphone it will record in your pants/suit pocket or just the put the recorder in your shirt pocket and turn it on....It has never failed me! I simply download voice files to laptop to keep and play in court. The attached USB connector makes everything a snap.
Summary: Have gotten a good amount of use from this recorder. Works well, good sound quality, quality product that has lasted me over a year and is still going. Only wish was that it had more internal memory.

Summary: I bought this to put down song ideas,it has good clarity and digital sound. After a bout a year it started telling me the battery was dead when i knew it was a new battery.Well i paid over $200 for the unit at radio shack. The real downer was when it started not going back together as it comes apart so you can plug into your pc. Its not made very good at all.Now it won't even click back into position.
Great gadget for teachers, motivational speakers, business meetings, presentations, etc.

Summary: As I said before, I'm not a tech-expert so I don't know if this product is any better than others technically speaking. That said, I think this is a great gadget to have if you are a teacher like me who wants a voice recording of classes and presentations. The quality is actually very good and the 512MB memory is really plenty even if you record in HD.
Summary: If you are a music teacher, I recomend this item as a good tool for bringing some technology into the classroom. Though it was designed for speaking and taking note, this devise is good for recording music, both instrumental and choral. You can easily create practice tracks in WMA format and convert them on your home computer to MP3, allowing you to make practice CDs that will play in the students CD players.
Summary: I figured I better write a reveiw since I read through so many to decide which DVR to purchase. Reasons I selected this DVR: 1 - Records in WMA - no special format requiring special software. Even though DSS is free, I wanted the mobility and flexibility of using it on the road with any computer available. 2 - Plugs directly into a usb port and looks like a mass storage device to Windows. Again, mobility and flexibility.
Summary: I like this recorder. It is compact, has clear sound, and lots of nice accessories -- except for the darn battery cover, which keeps falling off. Clearly they have issues with this because the Olympus web site specifically sells battery covers for this model at $7.00 a piece. Except they are always out of stock. I called Olympus, got put on hold three times with different departments, only to be told they are out of stock. (Duh!!!!
Summary: I bought this and returned it the same day. Static hiss is the problem. When recording in a silent room, the created file has a large amount of quite loud static/hiss. The voices were recorded quite well, but I found the amount of background hiss simply unacceptable. Very dissapointing as the recorder worked well otherwise. Note that I also used an Olympus ME51S microphone, the hiss was present whether it was used or not.
