The WS-300M records in WMA format. It comes with an integrated stereo microphone that has adjustable sensitivity. It also has a Variable Control Voice Actuator (VCVA) features which records only when it senses sounds. Users can choose from 4 recording modes including HQ, LP, SP, and Stereo HQ. When using the LP mode, it can record up to 68 hours and 45 minutes.
The Olympus WS-300M comes with a built-in flash memory of 256 megabytes. It not only stores audio files but also other file types including documents and images. These files can be transferred to and from the device using high speed USB 2.0. It also provides users with 5 folders that can each store up to 199 files. Index marks can be used to easily retrieve or access specific files. Accidental deletion of important files can also be prevented by using the lock feature.
The WS-300M supports playback of audio files in WMA and MP3 formats. It comes with WOWTM audio technology for 3D sound and rich bass. It also comes with an integrated equalizer. Playback speed can be changed from 25% slower up to 50% faster than real time. It also has settings for repeat or random playback.
