Summary: I am a competitive singer and we have to turn in vocal tapes of our songs. I use this digital recorder to record my tapes. I then can send the recordings via my computer to my section leader. I love the way the voice is clear and there is no "rasping" sound with "air" going over the microphone. It is very easy to use. You just need to familiarize yourself with the buttons. The instructions come with the device.
Summary: Comments about Olympus VN-5200PC 512MB Digital Voice Recorder: i use it for a 30 minute radio broadcast that i record myself then send it by computer to the radio station each week, quality is great.
Pros: Compact Design, High Quality Sound, Long Battery Life, Reliable
Summary: I bought this to record lectures, and the 1st time out I was pretty happy. I was in a huge lecture with over a thousand people, and it recorded really well. The PC link is awesome, I downloaded the lectures right onto my Mac. It transfers them in WMA format, but a quick internet search yielded a free solution for conversion into iTunes, and from there onto CD. I am very happy with my purchase.
Summary: Great for the price. Sound is clear, buttons are responsive and have a good feel to them, and microphone is sensitive. I have a two-year old and I use it to record his babbling. Only problem is that he grows quiet when I put the recorder in front of him. He wants to grab it and play with it.
Summary: I was looking for a recorder to use whenever I thought of something I didn't want to forget. Or if I meet an old friend in the mall and want to get their phone number or address, with this little jewel handy I don't have to find a pen and paper. What I like most is the different folders so I can leave something on it for a long time in one folder and then I can list something else in another folder and delete it as I need to.
Summary: So perhaps I was just unlucky but this thing worked great until it completely crapped out and I lost some very important notes I had left on it. I have to be honest but I have not had very much luck with Olympus products in general. I am now using a Sony voice recorder which is still working after 6 months. I have to agree with some other reviewers that the software is pretty slow and can be cumbersome..
