Summary: this is a nice digital recorder .its easy to figure out how to operate and has a desent sound quality on XHQ.i would recomend good quality batteries though like duracell or energizer,as they tend to last longer.
Summary: I purchased my Olympus handheld digital recorder for recording lecture in college classes. It is a great recorder that allows for an estimated 71 and 1/2 hours of recording! The recorder also allows you to save recordings and list them into different folders which is a great way to manage your recordings. I would recommend this recorder to anyone that is looking for a small, portable recorder. It also has hook ups for a microphone or ear-piece.
Summary: It does what it claims to do, simple control layout, good sound quality, especially at the higher quality settings. Just be aware that there is no USB connection for transferring files to a PC, so if it is to be used for dictation it can only be played back using the same machine it was recorded on. This makes it impractical for dictation/transcription use, or anything else that involves transferring the sound files to a computer.
Summary: I bought this nifty little gadget to keep track of those flashes of brilliance that we all have. You know, the ones that always seem to come to mind while driving or in other places where writing would be inconvenient or near impossible. But my little 3100 has proved to be just what the Doctor ordered for so much more. Consider: The 3100 has four folders to record in and keep one’s life organized - A, B, C, and D.
Summary: Be aware that Olympus offers zero support on this product and if you loose the software or like me recorded a business meeting when I was out of State and the software was back home in Oregon, you can't download the drivers. Based on the poor support I would not buy this product again. Sad... What would it take to just load up the software on the net. We need to be more pro-active with companies like this and refuse to do business with them.
Review of Olympus digital voice recorder VN-3100PC
28 December 2008
Summary: Overall, this is a great product. People, DO NOT buy a digital voice recorded unless it is the kind that connects with a standard USB cable to your computer. For Olympus, that means you need to see "PC" at the end of the model number. The software for that works great, and transcribing is vastly easier from your computer.
Summary: This is a nice little recorder, it is small and convenient, it has pretty good clarity. I think the only real critique I have on it is that if you plug your headphones into it you can only hear from one side which isn't very good for you ears. But if you download the sound to your computer it will take care of it. Still it's a pretty good, cheap recorder.
Summary: I am a police investigator and use the recorder to take statements the sound is very clear and it is very easy to use. Keeping track of statements on the computer is great and love the record to computer soft ware that came with it.
