An Efficient, Configurable and Notably Clear-Sounding Recorder

Summary: This little device has some astoundingly clean preamps, playing well with a wide variety of external microphones (thanks to its XLR inputs with phantom power). Its signal:noise ratio is very high overall, and the internal microphones are not to be overlooked either, as they also produce very clear, realistic sounding recordings.
Summary: Hey, everybody: I wanna tell you how much of a no-risk purchase this is. Whether you record things for fun or record things for your profession, this beast slays all other animals. The battery life is superb; the instructions are clear; you have the ability to pause and resume while recording; and, this product does not misrepresent what it actually does.
Summary: Great multi-track recorder that supports up to 8 tracks overdub on a single project file. Perfect for musicians as a pocket recording studio. Allows you to lay down guitars, keys, drums, vocals, backups/harmonies as separate tracks within a project and overdub each while monitoring. Once the project is finished, you can mix down to a single file or export the project folder with individual instrument tracks to your computer for mixing.
Summary: I originally had an issue with latency on the multitrack side, needing to overcome this issue, I decided to change the record rate to 16bit to see if this would correct the latency issue and suprisingly it did. I made severval recordings at this rate and they seemed perfectly in sync. Later that evening I decided to switch back to 24bit only as a test. The 24bit rate now appear to be syncing with my original playback tracks.
Excerpt: So far I really like this recorder. I have the smaller ls-10, which is all metal, so at first I was disappointed that the body of the ls-100 is plastic, but it has performed well and seems sturdy enough. Only complaint I have so far is that from reading the manual it seems that I have to change menu settings whenever I change my input source. I wish the unit would just recognize that a mic was plugged in to the xlr, or to the mini.
Excerpt: My first recorder, to be used for nature recording. Just wanted to correct an issue raised by another reviewer. The unit does PAUSE playback, if playing back a track and STOP is pressed, the track pauses, press PLAY again and the playback resumes. I have no idea why the reviewer has a problem. It also pauses during recording, press the REC button and then again to start recording, then if you want to pause recording press the REC button again.
Pros: Compact Design, High Quality Sound, Long Battery Life, Reliable
Excerpt: Using the recorder to document oral histories. Quality is exceptional. Easy to use. Works flawlessly EXCEPT in one instance: Auto-level is independent on ech channel such that, for example, if a sudden percussive noise overloads one channel, stereo soundstage is thrown way off and takes a couple seconds to recover. As useful as auto-level could be, in an environment where extraneous noise is likely to occur, it is useless.
Pros: Compact Design, Ease of use, High Quality Sound, Long Battery Life, Reliable, Versatile
Summary: The sound quality is incredibly good. I have a few $1700 mics and very nice preamps to go with them and the built in mics hold their own against almost anything. The multi track is not usable for me due to the monitoring delay. It is something like .2 second or so. I'm not sure, but it's a lot. Maybe this is something that will improve as they refine the software. The overdub function works fine.
