Summary: This recorder does its job well, but be careful with it. The battery cover breaks easily if this thing is dropped or knocked around. If it were more sturdy (especially the battery cover / latch), I would give it five stars. (A great broken recorder is still broken.
Summary: Immediately started having problems with recorder. It has eaten tapes, door either won't open or pops off completely. Sound isn't any better than the $35 recorder I bought for backup. Definitely not worth the money. Sound isn't any better than cheaper models. So disappointed. It is a cheaply made, plastic piece of junk.
Summary: I bought two recorders in December 2012. I used one until it dropped on the floor and the battery door broke (my fault). When I went to use the second one, I discovered that the rewind button doesn't work! $149 recorder??? Really??? It is now April 2013, and I am beyond the return date. From now on, I will stick with the inexpensive recorders.
Summary: This hand held dictaphone used to be my favorite for its ultra smooth operation and ease of button use. The current version. Is fabulous, too. Compared to the other I used recently (Sony) which is good, this is excellent. It is light and hand friendly for a woman's hand. You don't have to push the buttons too hard and the tape picks up on the beginning of the word, rather than leaving a sound gap which occurs on other dictaphone s.
Summary: I don't know what some of you are talking about, but this is an AMAZING recorder for it's price. This is the read deal. I have used many recorders and this one, surprisingly, works best with the application that I use it for. It has a very high quality audio playback. Don't be fooled by its price.
Summary: Recorder has functioned very well under heavy daily use. I like the battery level indicator. Great feature. No more running into problems as battery runs down. Very sensitive microphone as well.
Summary: I've used my Pearlcorder S922 twenty(?) some years for recording speeches and loaning to students and practicing my own readings. It just quit. This model is outdated but I hope to get another as good as it's invaluable, fits in my purse also!. I bought it at Costco many years ago. Wondering if my cassettes will work in J500. Thanks Olympus!
