Summary: I am a physician and use this for dictation of patient visits. This is a great unit except for one small issue. There is no way to review your dictation in any particular file while you are dictating, and then resume dictating.
Summary: This little recorder works great. I'm using it primarily for newspaper interviews, but it records high enough quality sound that I can also upload clips to a radio station that I work for. It's easy to use and seems pretty durable. The price was good, too.
Summary: I bought one of these so I could record our church choir and see what we needed to improve. I chose it over the Sony and other Olympus units due to superior audio specs and the capability of using external stereo microphones.
Summary: I have been using the DS-40 for about a month. The last audio recorder I had was a cassette so it is nice to have it electronically. Although I think that there are more steps than need be to do what I want. I used it for recording band practice.
Summary: I have owned this Olympus DS-40 Digital Voice Recorder for 8-months. Previously I have owned and still have and use an Olympus DS-2 , which is in its own right also a fantastic digital voice recorder.
Summary: I like this product so far. I have only had it for about a month. I wanted it to record class lectures for school and it seems to work pretty well for that. Though I will advise anyone else buying it for that reason that you will still need to sit in the first or second row in order to record the...
Summary: I have been mostly pleased with the DS-40 since I received it. The key word here is VOICE RECORDER. This unit is optimized for voice frequencies, and even at its highest quality setting, it only records 64Kbps quality (less than half the resolution of an average-quality MP3).
Summary: Much good has been written about the Olympus DS-40, both here and elsewhere. I would support most of what has been written in that regard and focus here on what I find to be some tragic flaws in what would otherwise be a well functioning and well designed recorder. Handling noise is significant.
Summary: We bought this to record meeting minutes. The sound is incredible! It picked up every little sound, from people snifling, movement of chairs; however if the back ground noise is close to the recorder, the recorder picks up those sounds more verus the people talking which was erritating when I had to...
