Summary: Heard that these tried and true compact, easy to use digital recorders are no longer being produced. Bought two of them as back up as I expect my original one to eventually give up the ghost after years of hard use. Ebay total cost of each(including shipping) was from $13-$30. Please know that you do need to have at least one Olympus CD-ROM to download onto your computer and thus send your digital recordings out.
Summary: Have used this recorder for one on one interviews as an insurance adjuster. It is easy to use and downloads flawlessly to my iMac (OS10.6.8). I don't know what these other Mac users are talking about when they say it doesn't work with a Mac. I use DSS Player for Mac Version 1.3.3(E). It is great software that pops up and lets you see all the files being held on your computer and, if your DS330 is hooked up via the USB cord, it'll show you what files are being held on the...
Summary: What I love about it is it has the least amount of buttons, bells, and whistles you don't need, small (pocket size), and simple-dimple to use. What I hate about it is Olympus has chosen to discontinue making this very popular model hoping to force you to buy a more expensive one that's way too complicated and not what we need for our business. Bring it back!
Summary: The DS-330 is a perfect compact dictaphone. Contrary to what E-bay Sellers say you are NOT able to download the software from the Olympus website. You must have the CD that originally came with the DS-330 recorder AND product registration key in order to install the software from that CD. You are however able to download updates from the Olympus website. The Olympus DSS Player Version 6 has a great Device Detector (Device Detector ver.
Summary: As a professional translator who dictates 6,000 to 10,000 words per day, I rely very heavily on my digital recorder. Because the DS330 is hard to find in a local store, when mine broke I tried others. After trying about 7 other recorders, I got online and bought another DS330. The reasons why I like the DS300 are the following: 1. Ergonomics. The operability of the unit is superb in how well it fits the way I use it.
Summary: I wanted to write this review to clarify something, someone else had written; that this doesn't work for a Mac. Maybe the drivers changed since the last review by a Mac user (I hope they have seeing that the last review was 10/03). I haven't had any problems getting this to work on my computer, witht he drivers provided on the install disc. I am running on a Dual 2 GhZ G5, with Mac OS 10.4.3 I got this a few weeks ago, and since then it has worked beautifully.
Summary: I'm an internal affairs investigator. The quality of sound on this is really quite incredible. I love that you can plug it into my computer and use it that way, without using any of the batteries, either. The only bad part is that it sounds like everyone has a slight lisp, but it is a minor annoyance. This is the only approved recorder for the state agency that I work for. I would recommend it.
Summary: The main reason I purchased the recorder is so that I could tape my professor's lectures. In fact, it worked like a charm in my Biology class this past semester. At first I didn't think the recorder would be ideal because the playback on the recorder is hard to hear. However, when I downloaded the files to my computer, the sound quality was awesome.
