Summary: I've had mine for several years and it worked well. However, I can't get it to download files to my Windows 7 computer. According to the Microsoft Windows 7 compatibility center (Amazon blocks foreign URLs), Windows 7 does not support the Olympus DS 330. The manual posted online by Olympus reports Windows XP as the latest operating system for which you can use the DS 330.
Summary: Heard that these tried and true compact, easy to use digital recorders are no longer being produced. Bought two of them as back up as I expect my original one to eventually give up the ghost after years of hard use. Ebay total cost of each(including shipping) was from $13-$30. Please know that you do need to have at least one Olympus CD-ROM to download onto your computer and thus send your digital recordings out.
Summary: Have used this recorder for one on one interviews as an insurance adjuster. It is easy to use and downloads flawlessly to my iMac (OS10.6.8). I don't know what these other Mac users are talking about when they say it doesn't work with a Mac. I use DSS Player for Mac Version 1.3.3(E). It is great software that pops up and lets you see all the files being held on your computer and, if your DS330 is hooked up via the USB cord, it'll show you what files are being held on the...
Summary: Have used this for 6 or more years, now 2011. I use it with Win 7 just as a microphone though as Olympus has not offered Win 7 drivers for the program that works mostly on XP. I liked it with XP because the files sizes were smaller than most MP3 and similar voice files. Now I use Recordpad from[...] as the program and with the DS330 as the microphone.
Summary: Ask me five minutes ago and I would have given this product 5 stars. I used it for college for a few years with a PC and it was great. Now, I find out that all those recordings that I transferred from PC to Mac, useless. The ones I just recorded the other day (just pulled it from storage) useless. The recorder works fine, and it should, as I paid about $100 for it back in the day. Had I known it had an expiration date, I probably would not have bought it.
Summary: This is not a user friendly device. If you use it on a regular basis you may be O.K. I am not a regular user and I need the direction book every time. It has many many features and the learning curve was too much for me. Also, learn to use the lock feature, touching any of the many buttons can mess up your recording. Good Luck.
Summary: Buyer's beware. Olympus support is horrible. If you ever lose or damage your software Olympus will not help you get it. I lost my CD when I moved and you can't download the software anywhere (you can't even buy it from Olympus). Now I have a completely worthless digital recorder. I'LL NEVER BUY OLYMPUS AGAIN.
