Pros: The display on the unit is great. It's bright and clean. The case is metal so it is durable and solid. Easy to use and you can edit your audio files. Which means you can listen to your files and then record over what you previously dictated. This is an important feature.
Cons: I've used the unit to record a conference with bad results compared to other units with stereo mics. It is a great personal dictating unit, but I wouldn't recommend it for recording conversations. Even with the mic set to conference it was still not as good.
Summary: Do not, repeat, do not, buy this item. I puchased one late last year, and within 1 month all of a sudden when I tried to download a file a message came on my computer " memory card is corrupted, see your olympus dealer " .
Summary: This is the most user friendly dicta-phone I have found in the Olympus professional series. The record button is easy to use. I am trapped using these since they are the industry standard for major medical transcription platforms.
Very compact, easy to use and generally an excellent (Olympus DS-2300) Digital Voice Recorder

Summary: Excellent design and recording quality for dictation or when recording a meeting. The memory card has excellent capacity, which naturally also depends on the size of the card. The battery life is sufficient and easy and quick to change if necessary. Rechargeable batteries are useable.
Summary: Efficient to set up, reliable, and insert function all make this a beneficial product. Cost was a bit high, limiting it's review to 4 star level. I might have been able to get something similar for a bit less but I like the feel, weight, button setup and directional mic I purchased with it.
Summary: I represent a transcription company - and this recorder is the one we recommend to physicians in solo practice or smaller group practices. I would suggest one recorder per physician, although the recorder can be effectively shared due to the multiple folders available.
Summary: This DS 2300 recorder has all the functionality needed for frequent voice file creation. Importantly one can rewind and record over the file without creating a new file, a feature not available with some other models.
Summary: Based on the high specs and the high price, I assumed that this was a professional machine. However, other digital recorders I have had, which cost a quarter of the price, put out a much better sound straight out of its small speaker.
Summary: I previously had a Sony ICD-MX20 Memory Stick Pro Duo Digital Voice Recorder that was so bad that I gave it away to another unsuspecting employee. My replacement was the DS-2300 recorder. I have been very pleased after 6 months of use. It is a Ph.D.
