Excerpt: This is a pretty simple machine, it is the point and shoot camera of the voice recorder world. It was very easy to operate and recorded perfectly. Its built in speaker has good fidelity if you do not wish to use headphones for playback. And, its total recordable time is beyond anything you would ever want. Playback was pretty straight forward, but backing up just a bit to capture a missed word or two as difficult. It does what I needed done.
Summary: I assumed that since this is a digital device that of course it would be capable of transferring a sound file to a PC. Well I was wrong! I can't understand why they would not include a USB connection on this device. Other than that the recorder seemed to work well but I think that everyone who bought this eventually would want to move a file from the device. Makes no sense to me why they left that capability out. I'm returning the item for refund.
Summary: I bought this recorder after reading the reviews. I was looking for a unit that was not expensive but still had the features I needed. One thing I read was that some people had trouble figuring out some of the features due to the instructions lacking in clarity. I didn't find that the case. I just read them carefully and messed with the recorder for about 15 minutes and had its workings down pretty well.
Summary: While it does not have a card to download audio the product is great in all respects.Very simple to use and great sound quality.28 bucks online, delivery was ahead of time.Big step up from my old micro cassette recorder which sucked battery's and sounded terrible with only a 60 min record time per cassette.Hope they make one like this Olympus DP-201 with a card and not diminish the overall performance.Great product.
Summary: Cheaper through online ordering than in-store, even though item is stocked. Other than that, device is very satisfactory for the price. Seems to be able to pick up voices from a decent distance around the conference table.
Excerpt: Since I am pretty much computer illiterate, this voice recorder has been a godsend to me. I tried a Phillips recorder first. The instructions were so terrible that I never did figure out how to operate it. I gave it away. If you want a simple recorder that works well, this is the one for you. Thanks, Olympus for making it, and Staples for selling it.
Pros: Compact Design, Easy to use, High Quality Sound, Reliable
Summary: The Olympus DP-201 Voice Recorder is a compact yet powerful product that meets my needs for recording the material I need. It has an extended life battery that will last long enough to record up to 94 hours in standard mode. The instructions are simple to follow & the playback quality is extremely clear.
