Summary: I've been using this recorder for a couple of years, and it's been very useful and reliable. I'm responsible for creating minutes from project meetings, and there are often 10 or more people around a large conference table, usually talking over each other. Regardless of where I sit or how softly someone speaks, I can nearly always hear their voices clearly.
Summary: I replaced a smaller and two-year older Olympus recorder with the DM-520. Upgraded to Sonority Plus. Worked like a dream for three years. Purchased 6/28/10 from Amazon. Before going in for surgery in April 2013, I checked all devices (cameras, recorders, flash lights, etc.) to make certain everything was in working order. Fresh batteries. I don't recall the number of the small unit - a WS something I believe - but all it did was stumble, crash, self-terminate, etc.
Summary: This report is early: the DVR was purchased fairly recently. I have found the DVR wonderful for picking up small meetings (a dozen persons all within 4 yards from the DVR). Its stereo pickup "separation" (left from right) is amazing! Its software (Sonority) use for playback (under MS Windows) is superb. New product needed: A pair of travel speakers (i.e.
Summary: I read reviews from others, so I had mixed feelings when I ordered the DM-520 recorder ... then it arrived. I like to think I'm savvy regarding electronics, well this was a stretch. No! there's nothing wrong with the operating instructions (I went to the website and downloaded the verbose version of the operations manual) so I guess the best way to describe how to use the recorder is to say it's something like a puzzel, you've got all these functions ...
Summary: I love this recorder. I ordered from Amazon and the shipping was expedient and delivered on the date they said it would be. I use it for my voice lessons and it records beautifully. I have never test the time limits/battery life since the max I record at one time is an hour. Also getting the files off and onto my computer (MAC) is simple. I am extremely pleased with this product and would recommend it to anyone!
Summary: The Olympus Digital Voice Recorder DM-520 is a nice compact recorder with very clear recordings, even of vocals. I bought this because the MPeg recorders I've had in the past have sounded static-y on any loud/high notes when recording, and the recorders themselves seemed to add a strange undulation to the background. While this recorder has the ability to add an external microphone, I find that the internal one works fine for my purposes (recording practice sessions).
Summary: I purchased the recorder to record in-class lectures for later playback/review. It was important to me to be able to listed to a recorded lecture while driving without using headphones. This recorder has many features that I will probably never use, but I am glad they are there. You can download the specs from the Olympus site so I won't go into that. I originally purchased the Olympus WS-710 but returned it after a day or so of use.
Summary: The first digital recorder I own and I must say I have no regrets. I use this recorder for lectures and personal notes. The one hang up I have about this product is that Olympus did not specify the class of micro sd card that sholud be used for this recorder and even when I contacted Olympus customer service more than a month ago they still have not responded. If anyone can help I would be most grateful.
