Summary: At my office, we have about 8 people with this device. When this device works, it works great. But out of nowhere, 3 of them have developed problems and quit working. It turns out to be a known issue. If the product ID in the hardware device manager shows up as 8060, then you might as well order a replacement. I have been searching for some kind of firmware upgrade other kind of fix, but there seems to be none. So far, 3 out of 8 have gone bad in about 2 years.
Pros: Good video quality Easy to set up Low use of resources
Summary: Great for a 2nd monitor and I'm generally happy with it. Quick fix for an immediate need or if you have no space for another card, but beware if trying to add it to Windows 7, it may not work out too well.
Pros: Setup and installation is very simple and works flawlessly in Windows XP.
Cons: Setup is not as smooth and functionality is quirky at times in Windows 7. The driver tried to update itself a couple of times, completed it's attempt, and then the adapater stopped working. I had to uninstall it completely and use the driver on the disc and prevent it from trying to update. On a separate Win7 machine, the adapter caused a BSOD and blew out Windows to the point where I had to use Restore after removing the adapater.
Summary: I purchased this device because it was less expensive and easier to install than a new video card. It allowed me to connect a 3rd monitor to my computer and has been in use for 2 weeks. So far it has worked flawlessly.
