The Akai VS-J4400 is a video cassette player and recorder that plays standard video home system (VHS) tapes. The player measures approximately 14.17 x 3.54 x 11.34 inches (W x H x D).

The VS-J4400 has four mono heads. The player’s high speed rewinding mechanism reduces rewinding time to less than 120 seconds for E-180 tapes. It also features a VHS index search system for easier playback as well as functions for variable step picture search and slow.

Akai VS-J4400 owners can benefit from its simple one touch recording features. When recording, the player allows its users to choose from two tape speeds. These speeds include including standard play (SP) and long play (LP). The player features timer recording that is programmable for up to 8 events. It also comes equipped with features for digital auto recording time adjustment. In addition, the VS-J4400 has a commercial skip function allowing users to maximize their VHS tapes. The player also has an auto power off function when in RF mode. Through this function, the player will automatically turn off after 5 minutes of no broadcasting signal.

Other features of the Akai VS-J4400 include an auto RF channel out setting and auto power on by pressing any key. The player also has a child lock system. It also comes with digital auto search and memory functions as well as an on screen display (OSD) with one and off functions. It also comes with a full function remote control that allows its users to easily control playback while at a distance from the player.
