Costly Mistake

mascasa, Amazon
30 July 2014
  • Summary: We have had the Sebo D4 for 3 years. I hate this vacuum. I bought it because it had a long electrical cord and hose. The hard surface head is small. I can't find an after market head that is large and will go on the Sebo hose. If you have a whole house of hardwood and tile like I do, the head is way too small. Pulling this thing around is like herding cats. You have to hold the hose close to the machine with one hand while you vacuum with the other.

  • Summary: I was debating whether to buy a central vac for my remodel but decided to try and find a really good canister vacuum cleaner that would be easy to use and had the best cleaning power for my wood floors and carpeting in the bedrooms. With two dogs, I really needed something out of the ordinary! I found the SEBO D4 at AllergyBuyersClub and I couldn't be happier with its performance.
  • Pros: high quality, effective, quiet, reliable, easy to use, met my expectations

Made Switch From Miele Blue Moon

Doug Dixon, Amazon
30 April 2014
  • Summary: We previously had a top of the line Miele vac which was very good from a functional standpoint, but did not last. We like to purchase items that are very good functionally as well as having a long service life and we are willing to pay a bit more if it will last longer. Comparing the Miele to Sebo D4, the Miele was smaller and lighter weight. Smaller bag size (more frequent bag replacements). Easier to carry up stairs and store.

We returned our Sebo D4.

  • Summary: Rather than rewrite everything here, go and read my review and comparison to the Miele S8 Continuum unit we went with instead after trying the Sebo for a month. The extensive review is on the Product page for the Miele. Basically, we had two manufacturers defects that needed taking care of for which McHardy's was great on, and we didn't like some of the characteristics of this vacuum. Kevin.

Not the easiest vacuum to drive!

M. Baker, Amazon
10 April 2014
  • Summary: I have a Miele vacuum. It works well, and is much easier to steer. After having my home re-carpeted with a pile carpet I decided it would be good to have an adjustable height brush for carpet and tile. The tank is rather clumsy to operate where it connects to the hose. The range of motion is not always the best. The suction can be regulated… that's a plus.. but that changes the effort needed to move the head back and forth to clean.

Not your average vacuum cleaner, and it's Made in Germany too.

JoelgSDCA, Amazon
24 February 2014
  • Summary: pros...it's made in Germany, and it's well engineered, and packed with features. I was a solid and trusty Miele guy, I have three of them, one stick vacuum, and two canisters (older Carina, and newer Olympus). I like that they are well made and engineered vacuums with well thought out features. But I also needed one that has a powerhead, and when I priced out the retrofit of my Olympus to accommodate an electric powerhead, it would cost me more than the vacuum itself.

  • Summary: The Sebo D4 replaced the C2 in our household which had seen almost daily use for 10 years with no servicing issues, so let's hear it for Sebo reliability! Truth is we did not need another vacuum but I am glad we treated ourselves to the upgrade. on the minus side this vacuum is a full size[read heavy] vacuum so best used on one level and it wasnt until I beefed up my core strength with Pilates that I was up to carrying it up and down stairs.I am quite tall at 5'7" but...

  • Summary: This vacuum is fantastic and really quiet which is a bonus! We had a cheapo Kenmore vacuum that was barely keeping up and needed replacing, especially since DH has terrible asthma. So to the internet to do research and find out whether the Dyson I had been dreaming of was really deserving of the hype. After finding out about Sebo D4 and Mieles it was only a matter of time to make the decision to spend this kind of money on a vacuum.
