Summary: I'm not one to leave negative reviews, but this is one that must be told. Please click on the helpful review button if this review changes your opinion and you opt not to buy the product. I'd be delighted to show Panasonic how impossible warranties affect business. I bought this vacuum to alternate it with my old Dirt Devil. After 3 uses the vacuum started over heating and turning off automatically.
Summary: It has great suction. I have a little concerned about the plastic latches and some of the other plastic parts because plastic like that seems so breakable but I guess it's a strong plastic, hopefully. The bottom is messy to empty and I'm still trying to learn how to clean the whole canister.
Summary: The engine failed after 1 month of use. It is currently being repaired under warranty, but that required mailing off the vacuum (Panasonic says they will cover the cost of that). It's been a few weeks; we don't have the vacuum back yet. That said, it worked very well in the time we did have it--hence our willingness to go through the trouble of getting it repaired.
Summary: I had a older Panasonic bag model for about 15 years, finally retired it to the basement when I bought a newer, different brand bagless. After getting sick of the poor features of the other, I decided to look at Panasonic again. I bought this bagless 425 series and I am really pleased so far. It is quiet, handles well, the bagless feature is much easier (and cleaner) to empty than the other brand I had. The retracting cord feature saves time.
