Summary: Purchased the vacuum 4 months ago and soon learned that the small air-powered brush for cleaning small areas wasn't working well. Now it has stopped completely. The impellor spins great but is loose on its shaft so no power is transmitted to the brush. The brush is clean and spins readily. So I have now spent 3 days trying to get service or a warranty replacement for this "air turbine" brush. The Panasonic phone numbers are not helpful.
Summary: Boy quality sure has changed! As the price of stuff goes up the quality goes down. Its practically all plastic and for what I paid now compared to maybe 10 years ago, I sense that it may not last as long as the last one. My last one was beefier, more hardware than today's plastic vacuum. So going forward no longer do I feel assured that when I spend over $200.00 for an appliance that its going to be rock solid when it comes to durability.
Summary: Stick with a great brand like Miele. Hoover, Panasonic, Shark, and Dyson just don't clean as well. I was very dissappointed with this OptiFlow canister vacuum. Very plastic. But you get what you pay for. I learned that lesson after 2 Hoovers in 7 years and trying this vacuum as well as observing my friends' Shark and Dyson. I ended up purchasing the Miele Delphi and have not looked back...in fact, I now wish I had spent even more for a top of the line Miele.
Summary: It's a nice vacuum in many ways but not the way that is most important to me. It doesn't suck enough. I have a dog and cat and want to get rid of animal hair. So for the price it's probably a good buy, but not a good fit for me.
Summary: I bought this due to I needed a vacuum for the new hi pile soft carpet we just had installed and our old vacuum would not work with the hi pile. When I opened the box and started to assemble found on piece of the plastic holder for the wind turbine broken and the plastic in general seems cheap. Thought okay I will see if it works okay and just get the one part replaced by Panasonic since it was a small item and not critical to the operation of the unit.
Summary: I bought this vacuum about two (2) weeks ago. I was so excited! The cool color combination and the new vacuum smell: EUTOPIA! I could not wait to try the special stairs attachment. I put my vacuum together and went straight to my stairs.....I have an Australian Shepherd and a German Shepherd so this time of year there is a significant amount of hair.
Summary: Very good delivery from Walmart. The CG-917 has some nice features like the telescoping handle hose and strong coil rewind. The unit handles well but feels heavy to lift. The vac bag assembly is very unique and works well. Panasonic pushes the single head as the solution for both floors and carpet. It's not. For carpets, it works fine but on hardwood floors the vacuum power is just a trickle and you must resort to the "floor" attachment.
Summary: Had owned a Panasonic vacuum for many years and it finally slowed down and died. Looked around for a replacement and this one had favoraable reviews and carried the Panasonic label, I expected quality but when I got it out of the box the accesories compartment would not open. I called Panasonic and the only response I recieved is that I would have to take it to their repair center, some 50 miles away. They would not compenstate me for shipping or my time and cost.
Summary: I confidently purchased this vacuum cleaner after reading some positive on-line product reviews. Buyer beware! Panasonic's customer service on vacuum cleaners is absolutely non-existant unless you happen to live in a large metro area. I live in Lexington, KY and can not find anyone to perform repairs covered under warranty within 100 miles, which means that Panasonic doesn't have a single authorized service center in Louisville, KY or Cincinnati, OH.
