Summary: Others have been critical of the Miele Marin, but I disregarded their warnings. The Miele is relatively quiet, but not as quiet as some machines. It is sealed well, so escaping dust is not much of a problem. What is annoying is that it blows hot air in the direction of the operator, which I found annoying. The lack of a swivel at the canister body made it difficult to move the machine; in one case it rolled over.
This vacuum is awesome. It is pricey but well worth the money

Summary: This vacuum is awesome. It is pricey but well worth the money. The construction of all components is solid and well designed. The suction is superb. I have had the vacuum for just over a month and generally use the auto setting for hardwood, tile, and carpet. One caution is that the power head can pull the piles out of carpet.
Summary: I like canisters and when I vacuum my house I like deep, very detailed cleaning, therefore I want all the service tools and all controls at fingertip. The Miele Marin has the service tools on board but the on/off and suction controls are on the canister. The cord is not long enough and I have to stop constantly to unplug the machine. The Miele Marin has great suction but is not a smooth canister.

Powerful, but hard to move the brush around on carpets

Summary: I just opened mine! It is a beautiful product. I noticed that the telescopic wand (a little heavy btw) had a little spot where it was bent, but it wasn't significant enough and I decided to keep it. I received the vacuum with 217 powerbrush, and I have a low pile carpet. I am having a hard time vacuuming because the it is hard to move the brush around (too much friction?) I had my setting on auto. Is anyone else having trouble moving the powerbrush around on carpets?
Have a Miele canister and I'm not at all happy with the unit

Summary: Have a Miele canister and I'm not at all happy with the unit. I have a combination of area rugs, hardwood floors and a small amount of plush w/w carpet. The beater brush his constantly stopping regardless of the pile ( low or high) and the cord is so short you can't vacuum but a portion of a room before having to unplug again and again. Everybody else loves their Mieles. I say, Meh......
Summary: So far, I really like this vacuum. I have mainly hardwood and tile with two runners. This picks up all of the dirt and pet hair--much better than my former Dyson was doing at the end of it's life. The Dyson was a wonderful but heavy vacuum to lug around--had the Animal for many years and finally got to the point where too many pieces needed replacing. The hose broke regularly on the Dyson.
