Summary: I bought the S8390 vacuum in Dec 2013, only gently used it (once a week, about one hour per time), then it went dysfunctional, the floor head can not be powered on after 8 months. Called the Tech support and they let me take the vacuum to a local store to let them check for me. The store just asked why not purchase the vacuum from his store, should I do that? then told me that it would take 3 to 4 weeks to fix the machine? Is it really that time consuming?
5 stars for Air Filtration and Ceramic/Stone Tiles, But 1 for Oriental Rugs and Hardwood Floors

Summary: What's supposed to set the Miele S8390 apart from other canisters is its air filtration (marketed towards allergy sufferers) and its hard-surface floor attachment (a single unit designed for carpet, hardwood/parquet, and stone/ceramic/vinyl). I found the Miele S8390 to succeed at one but not the other. I wanted to like the S8390 more than my older Miele Neptune model, but that is not the case.
Summary: I'll start my review by first saying that the Miele S8390 "FreshAir" is the most expensive vacuum I've ever used and that I got this product free through the Amazon Vine program. I'll also admit to being a bit of skeptic when it comes to really expensive vacuums. I've used Dyson's in the past and I'm just not convinced that the asking price of those vacuums is reflected in the job it does vacuuming. When I first saw the price tag of the Miele I had similar skepticism.
Summary: There are very few things I do not like about this vacuum. It's made in Germany, and Germany has a reputation for creating excellent quality machines. The suction is strong, and variable depending on the job. The following summarizes the pros and cons to this vacuum. Pros: -Telescoping handle allows short or tall users to vacuum with ease -A hidden compartment stores most of the tools that come with the vacuum.
Summary: I've tried canister vacuums in the past and have always gone back to uprights. The canister would always mash into furniture as I dragged it along with my attention focused on the floor tool. Because the hose is so long on this unit, though, I have a fairly wide radius in which to work and the canister can stay in one place. Assembly was easy and everything fit together well. There was one leftover piece, a round plastic piece with a screen and charcoal inside.
Summary: I love Miele vacuum cleaners. I've had one, the Flamingo, for 25 years. It still cleans very well, but it lacks the modern features. The FreshAir (S8390) is about the same size as my older vacuum and about the same weight. It's relatively heavy, but not as heavy as some other brands like the Electrolux. The combination floor tool, new on the S series vacuums, works very well. I have a combination of rugs and hardwood floors. I also have tile.
Summary: Lightweight, attractive and powerful, and with a considerable number of useful attachments, this is a fine example of efficient German engineering. I especially like the sturdy construction and capacity to change the suction power for lighter applications, such as drapes and upholstery.
Summary: This vacuum plain and simply rocks! I have never owned a canister vacuum before and wasn't sure what to expect. We currently use a Dyson Animal upright vacuum (bagless). I really like this vacuum and thought it would be a pain to manuever around the house (vs an upright) - but it is not at all. First of all, the little guy wheels around whereever you go.
Summary: I tried using a cannister vacuum years and years ago and hated it. It was difficult to maneuver and very awkward to use, so I wasn't really expecting to like this one much. I am happy to say that I was wrong. This vacuum actually swivels so that it will go in any direction you want it to go without fuss. It is the quietest vacuum I have ever heard, which is really nice for me and my noise sensitivities.
Summary: This is the third Miele brand vacuum I have used. The last one I bought I returned due to the awkwardness of use. The S8390 canister is easy to use (once you learn all the features). I like that it's a bagged vacuum. The ergonomic handle features an LED light that turns on with a push of the light symbol button. The light automatically turns itself off after about 30 seconds.
